Lovely Sun T-shirt Pattern
Pattern to knit this fitted tank top - Size M with a special, very soft and fluffy viscose yarn, ideal for summer. Design by Idealium.
Materials
- 5 balls of Sunny yarn in the color of the T-shirt
- 1 ball of Super Cotton for the details in another color
- Crochet hook no. 4
- Crochet hook no. 5
- Wool needle
Abbreviations
- CAD = chain stitch (loop)
- PA = double crochet (we take a yarn over, we insert the needle, we take a yarn over, we bring the needle, we take a yarn over, we take 2 loops from the needle, we take a yarn over, we take 2 loops)
- PR = slip stitch (we insert the needle, we take up the yarn, we bring the needle in, we take out the yarn)
- PB = single crochet (we insert the needle, we take up the yarn, we bring the needle, we take up the yarn, we take out 2 loops)
- PM = half double crochet (we take a yarn over, we insert the needle, we take a yarn over, we bring the needle, we take a yarn over, we take out 3 loops)
- BL = back loop (we make the stitch by inserting the needle only into the back loop of the stitch instead of taking both loops)
- CJ = bound together (two or more stitches bound together. For example 2 DC CJ: we take a yarn over, insert the needle, take a yarn over, bring the needle in, take a yarn over, pull up 2 loops on the needle and, without taking out the other 2 loops, we begin the second double crochet, take a yarn over, insert the needle, take a yarn over, bring the needle in, take a yarn over, pull up 2 loops on the needle, take a yarn over, pull up all the loops. A single stitch is created where there were previously two). This creates a DECREASE.
- TJ = knitted together (two or more stitches knitted with the needle pierced in the same stitch). This creates an INCREASE.
Tips
- The body is knitted in the round, closing each round with PR to the first stitch.
- When we knit with Sunny we use needle no. 5. When we knit with Super Cotton we use needle no. 4.
- The rounds in PA begin with 2 CH in height before the first stitch.
- The rounds in PM begin with 2 CH in height before the first stitch.
- The rounds in PB begin with 1 CH in height before the first stitch.
- In the pattern instructions, the total number of stitches we should have in that round is indicated in parentheses.

We close the fabric.
B) BRACES
From the point where we have closed the knitting, we skip 6 stitches without knitting and hook the yarn again, starting to knit at the 7th stitch.
R1 - 1 CAD, 8 sts repeating [1 PB, 1 PA], 2 PA CJ, 2 PA CJ (10)
R2 and 3 - 1 CAD, repeat [1 PB, 1 PA] (10)
R4 - 1 CH, repeat [1 SC, 1 DC] for 8 stitches, 2 DC CJ (9)
V5 - 1 CAD, repeat [1 PA, 1 PB] for 7 sts ending in PA, 2 PA SC (8)
R6 to 22 - 1 CH, repeat [1 Dc, 1 Dc] (8)
We should have 18 cm from the armhole. We start to knit the lowering of the strap towards the other side of the body:
R23 to 39 - 1 CH, repeat [1 DP, 1 SC] (8)
R40 - 1 CAD, 2 PA TJ, repeat [1 PB, 1 PA] for 7 sts ending in PB (9)
R41 - 1 ch, 2 dc TJ, repeat [1 dc, 1 dc] for 8 stitches (10)
V42 - 1 CAD, repeat [1 PB, 1 PA] (10)
R43 - 1 CH, repeat [1 SC, 1 DC] (10)
V44 - 1 ch, 2 dc tj, 2 dc tj, repeat [1 dc, 1 dc] for 8 stitches (12)
We join the strap to the other side of the body with 12 sts from the inside. To know which stitches to sew, count from the side of the strap where we started to knit towards the armhole, leaving 12 stitches of space without knitting, sewing the strap in the next 12.
To knit the other strap, we place the garment facing the point where we started to knit the first strap (we see it on our right). Now we leave 14 neckline stitches unknitted and start knitting at the 15th.
R1 - 1 CH, 2 DC CJ, 2 DC CJ, repeat [1 SC, 1 DC] for 8 stitches (10)
R2 and 3 - 1 CAD, repeat [1 PB, 1 PA] (10)
R4 - 1 ch, 2 dc CJ, repeat [1 dc, 1 dc] for 8 stitches (9)
V5 - 1 CAD, 2 PA CJ, repeat [1 PB, 1 PA] for 7 sts ending in PB (8)
R6 to 39 - 1 CH, repeat [1 Dc, 1 Dc] (8)
V40 - 1 CAD, repeat [1 PA, 1 PB] for 7 sts ending in PA, 2 PA TJ (9)
R41 - 1 CH, repeat [1 SC, 1 DC] for 8 stitches, 2 DC TJ (10)
V42 and 43 - 1 CAD, repeat [1 PB, 1 PA] (10)
R44 - 1 ch, repeat [1 SC, 1 Dc] for 8 stitches, 2 Dc TJ, 2 Dc TJ (12)
We join the other side of the body with 12 sts on the inside, counting in the same way as the other strap. There are 12 stitches of space in the armhole and 14 stitches of space in the neckline.
C) AUCTIONS
We make a circular PR border in three areas of the shirt: the neckline and the armholes.
The neckline will have 14 stitches in each neckline (front and back) + 44 stitches to go up and down the strap (1 stitch for each row). In total 116 PR.
The gap of each armhole will have 12 stitches at the bottom + 44 stitches to go up and down the strap (1 stitch for each row). In total 56 PR.
D) DETAILS IN ANOTHER COLOR
To make the details in another color, we knit with Super Cotton and needle no. 4.
Knit without tightening the stitch, leaving it relatively loose so as not to bulge the garment.
1- Neck. We hook the yarn into the neck hollow and knit, inserting the needle into the centre of each PR of the finishes, 1 complete round in a circle in PB.
2 - Armholes. We do the same as on the neck, 1 round in sl st in each circle of the armholes.
3 - Bottom edge. 4 rows in PB.
4 - Zig zag. Sew the zig zag detail to the chest. Cut a piece of thread 6 times the width of the garment and sew with the wool needle. Locate the 3 points of the triangle that you are going to sew in the photo. Let's call A the top corner, B the bottom left corner and C the bottom right corner.
To draw the triangle the movement of the needle is:
- From bottom to top we pass the needle through C
- From top to bottom we pass the needle through A
- From bottom to top we pass the needle through B
- From top to bottom we pass the needle through A
- From bottom to top we pass the needle through B. This step is the first of the next triangle to the left.
